Barbara Wellnitz, APR Recognized for
Professional Achievement
Named to Public
Relations Society of America College of Fellows
Barbara Wellnitz, APR (Accredited
in Public Relations), President of Ryan Wellnitz & Associates,
Foxboro, Massachusetts, has been elected to the College of Fellows
of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) (www.prsa.org).
Chartered in 1947 and based in New York City, PRSA is the world’s
largest organization of public relations professionals, with nearly
20,000 members in 114 chapters.

Ms. Wellnitz entered the
profession in 1984 when she joined Creamer Dickson Basford (CDB),
Providence, Rhode Island, then New England headquarters of a

City. Prior to joining CDB, she was Manager of the Systems and
Services Publications Department at The Foxboro Company, Foxboro,

Foxboro Reporter.
PRSA’s College of Fellows was
established in 1989 to recognize those who “have made significant
contributions to our profession,” said Vivian M. Hamilton, 2005
Chair, College of Fellows, and President, Hamilton Public Relations,
Eagle River, Arkansas. Two dozen professionals are being inducted
in 2005 for professional achievement, contributions to the
advancement of the profession, and service to society. The
induction ceremony will take place in Miami in October.
Ms. Wellnitz has also earned the
APR designation from PRSA, and is past President of the Society’s
Boston chapter. She is a graduate of Green Mountain College,
Poultney, Vermont, which she serves as Chair of the Board of
Trustees, and she earned the C.S.S. graduate certificate in
administration and management from Harvard University.

Agency of Record by Bank of Fall River
Ryan Wellnitz & Associates was
selected as agency of record by the Bank of Fall River, one year ago,
to develop and implement an integrated marketing communications
program for the Bank, including advertising, public relations and
direct marketing. The agency was selected to represent the bank
following an agency review, because of Ryan Wellnitz & Associates’

Ryan Wellnitz & Associates selected to represent
Cuming Corporation
Ryan Wellnitz &
Associates, Foxboro, Mass., has been selected as the marketing
communications firm for the Flotation and Insulation Division of
Cuming Corporation, Avon, Mass., which manufactures insulated pipe
used in offshore drilling of petroleum and natural gas.
The communications

Barbara Wellnitz Elected Chair of the Board
of Trustees of Green Mountain College

Resident First Woman
to Head Trustees in
College's 169-Year History
POULTNEY, Vt., July 9, 2003 –– For the first time in Green Mountain
College's 169-year history, the Board of Trustees has elected a woman
as chair of the board, Barbara Wellnitz of Foxboro, Mass. An alumna
and trustee since 1998, she will serve a three-year term, effective
July 1.
Wellnitz chaired the 2002 presidential search committee that hired
John F. (Jack) Brennan as president of Green Mountain College,
Poultney, Vt. She is president of Ryan Wellnitz & Associates, a public
relations firm based in Foxboro.
She attained an A.A. degree in liberal arts when Green Mountain
College was a two-year women’s college. She earned a B.A. in English
from Upsala College and the CSS graduate diploma in management from
Harvard University.
She also earned the APR professional certification from the Public
Relations Society of America (PRSA), is president of the Society’s
Boston chapter during 2003, and is a member of the PRSA Counselors
Academy.
Wellnitz has a long history of volunteer involvement at Green Mountain
College. In 1986, she was elected to the Alumni Board of Directors and
served as president of that board between 1994 and 1996. In 1998, she
was elected to the Board of Trustees. She was honored in 1999 with the
Distinguished Service Award, an annual award given to an alumnus for
service to the college and professional achievement.

Elects New President
Barbara Wellnitz, APR, to Direct Chapter’s Activities in 2003

Foxboro resident and
businesswoman Barbara Wellnitz has been elected president of the
Boston chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
Wellnitz, who is president and co-founder of the Foxboro-based public
relations firm Ryan Wellnitz & Associates, will lead a board of eight
officers who will direct the programs and initiatives for the
chapter’s 425 members in the coming year.
Barbara has served on PRSA Boston’s Board of Directors since 1998, is
a founding member of the Independent Practitioners Network of PRSA
Boston, and is also a member of the PRSA Counselors Academy.
"Being selected by members of PRSA Boston to lead the organization in
the coming year is truly an honor," Wellnitz said. "As companies large

by Regional Publicity Club
BARRINGTON, R.I. (August 9, 2002)

R.I., and Woodard & Curran, Portland, Maine, have won the Publicity
Club of New England’s Merit Award in the Newsletter category for the
publication
WaterWatch.
The award was presented during the Pub Club’s annual Bell Ringer
Awards Ceremony.
Woodard & Curran is an environmental
consulting firm that specializes in municipal water and wastewater;
industrial waste; hazardous waste; solid waste; operations and
management; information management and automation; and environmental
studies and permitting. Each edition of
WaterWatch
focuses on one aspect of water supply management in Massachusetts.
Topics have addressed water supply security, managing development, and
using Internet resources to better manage and protect water bodies.
The articles include input from Woodard & Curran project managers,
government officials and environmental advocacy groups, with the goal
of creating an open forum for the exchange of viewpoints and ideas on

Green Mountain College Names Barbara Wellnitz
to Chair Presidential Search Committee

& Associates Honored by Regional Publicity Club
Foxboro, Mass. (June 14, 2001)
– Ryan Wellnitz &
Associates and Norton
Company, a global leader in engineered abrasives, have won the Publicity Club of
New England’s Merit Award in Special Events for the Grinding Technology Forum
at Norton last October.
The two-day
forum brought 100 decision-makers from large corporations among Norton’s
customer and prospect base to the Higgins Grinding Technology Center in
Worcester for seminars on the selection and use of advanced, engineered
abrasives.
